Adige Cycling Tour – Nauders to Verona classic
8 days / 7 nights | Self-guided cycling tours
The Adige Cycle Path between Lake Resia and Lake Garda is recommended to all cyclists who want to ride carefree through almost always flat countryside against a dreamlike backdrop. Actively explore the landscape and towns of the Vinschgau and Etsch valleys, the shores and picturesque towns on Lake Garda. The Mediterranean climate and the numerous hospitable restaurants along the way make the tour a pleasure. The destination of the tour is Verona.
Itinerary
Day 1: Nauders
Arrival to Nauders. parking space (unguarded) near the hotel, handout of rental bikes (if booked) and information material.
Overnight stay at a 3*-Hotel.
Day 2: Schlanders/Naturns (approx. 57/67 km / 35/41 miles)
Past the church tower of Graun to Glurns, the smallest town in South Tyrol. Through the Vinschgau Valley to Schlanders or Naturns.
Overnight stay at 3*-hotel
Day 3: Bozen (approx. 49 km / 30 miles)
To Merano and Nals, to the mouth of the Adige river and on beautiful cycle paths to the town of the arbours. Overnight stay in a 3* or 4*-hotel.
Day 4: Trento (approx. 61 km / 38 miles)
Continuing along the Adige, you cycle always level to Neumarkt-Auer and the Salurner Klause. This takes you to San Michele all'Adige and the centre of the old council town of Trento (cathedral, castle, Neptune fountain, picturesque townscape, numerous shopping opportunities, town hall, Roman finds, etc.). Overnight stay in a 3* or 4*-hotel.
Day 5: Riva/Arco del Garda (approx. 53 km / 33 miles)
Staying on the Adige cycle path and cycling through picturesque vineyards to Rovereto (enchanting centre, monuments), you reach the lonely town of Mori, then Lopi and finally slightly uphill to San Giovanni; continue via Torbole and along Lake Garda very beautifully to Riva/Arco. Overnight in a 3* hotel in Arco or Riva.
Day 6: Cavaion Veronese (approx. 63 km / 40 miles / 10 min. by bus)
Short bus transfer to San Giovanni (3 km), from where the cycle tour continues level to slightly downhill to San Rocco; along the Adige cycle path to Belluno-Veronese; after a short climb you reach Albaré on a stretch of minor road; on cycle paths directly to the hotel in Cavaion Veronese. Overnight stay in a 3* hotel.
Day 7: Verona, (approx. 41 km /25 miles)
Approx. 2.5 km on a side road to Canale Cammuzoni. Along this former irrigation system for the fortresses of Verona and Mantua you cycle along the cycle path away from the traffic with very beautiful views over the Adige to the 1st cyclists' lookout tower and on to Bussolengo; after approx. 1.5 km on a side road continue along this stretch of water to the centre of Verona. Overnight stay in a 4* hotel.
Day 8: end of cycle trip
Booking of additional nights or return journey to Nauders.

Catering
Daily breakfast buffet or large, extended breakfast. For half board (NOT in Bolzano, Arco/Riva, Cavaion/Affi and Verona): 3 x 3-course dinner with choice of main course (partly in restaurants close to the hotel).
Tour profile
You cycle approx. 329-337 km within one week. 95% of the route is on car-free cycle paths, which are well signposted. 5 % of the tour runs along side roads with little traffic. The route is flat to very slightly downhill and very well signposted; there is one noticeable climb before Albaré, which is 2.7 km and about 80 metres in altitude.
Rental bicycles and e-bikes
The rental bikes are lightweight 7-speed hub-geared bicycles with comfortable saddles, including pannier bags on both sides for the day's luggage. If you wish, you can also reserve 21-gear bikes with freewheel at no extra cost. When booking, please indicate which bikes you prefer. The quality bikes (Schauff, Kettler, KTM) are well maintained and thus ensure worry-free bike rides. When you pick up your bike, you can try it out and the on-site staff will adjust it to your needs.
The e-bikes are 8-speed Kalkhoff bikes (Agattu Impulse or similar) with hub gears, 28" tyres, low step-in with frame heights of 46 or 50 and a daily range of about 80 km (depending on how you ride). The e-bikes have two hand brakes, no e-bikes with coaster brakes are available. For your own safety, we recommend wearing a bike helmet.
Arrival / Parking
Arrival by car: Free unguarded parking at the hotel. Please do not forget the vignette for Austria.
Arrival by air: From Innsbruck Airport you can reach Nauders comfortably by train/bus in approx. 2.5 h.
Arrival by train: Your destination station is Landeck-Zams. From there you can get to Nauders am Reschenpass by post bus or taxi. Return journey from Verona by train (to Landeck, if you have parked your car in Schlanders) or by flight. Bicycles are allowed on all regional trains.
Return transfer to Nauders by bus
In May, June and September from Thursday to Sunday and in October on Saturday and Sunday. You will be picked up directly at the hotel in Verona and taken to Nauders to the parked car. In the course of the bus transfer, guests' own bikes (prices see above) can be transported from Verona to Nauders. Please book the transfer of your own bikes directly when booking. Please note: Only own bikes with a tyre width of up to 5 cm can be transported back.
Departure from the hotel is between 08:00 and 09:00. Arrival in Nauders approx. between 13:00 and 14:00 (subject to change).
On the remaining days, return journey to Nauders under your own steam.
