From here you cycle to picturesque Kinderdijk, where the historic windmills welcome you with their timeless beauty. These mills were built to pump the water out of the polders and keep the surrounding land dry. Kinderdijk has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997.
You cycle through charming Delft, known for its picturesque canals and Delft Blue. In The Hague, you will discover the highlights of the city, for example during a visit to the Binnenhof and the Peace Palace, before breathing in the fresh sea air in Scheveningen, where the promenade and beach offer the perfect place for a break.
With an extra overnight stay in Rotterdam, you cycle past the city's green oases before immersing yourself in the tranquil nature of De Biesbosch National Park, a unique freshwater tidal area full of peace and natural beauty. Along the way, you will pass historic Dordrecht, where the old town and atmospheric harbours will transport you back to a rich past.
During this cycling holiday, a boat trip through the port of Rotterdam and a tour at your accommodation are included. You will spend the night on the SS Rotterdam, a passenger steamer of the Holland America Line, which now serves as a hotel ship. This cycle tour is a harmonious blend of city and nature, culture and relaxation - ideal for anyone who wants to discover the diversity of South Holland on two wheels.

Itinerary
Day 1: Individual arrival in Rotterdam
Your hotel is a former passenger ship that now serves as a hotel, restaurant and museum. The ship is permanently moored in the Katendrecht district of the Rijnhaven. After your arrival on the SS Rotterdam, you can enjoy a meal or a drink in one of the restaurants with an outdoor terrace or a bar with a view of the Rotterdam skyline. A wonderful start to your cycling holiday in South Holland.
Day 2: UNESCO World Heritage Site Kinderdijk (approx. 57 km)
Today you cycle over the Erasmus Bridge, one of Rotterdam's landmarks, with a marvellous view over the city to the Maasboulevard, a relaxing panoramic road along the Maas to Kinderdijk. In Kinderdijk you can visit the windmills both inside and out and learn more about the history and operation of the Dutch polder mills. There is a well-developed cycle and walking path along the mills. This gives you the opportunity to view the mills from different angles and take photos of this beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Site. One of the mills has been converted into a museum mill and is open to visitors. After your visit to Kinderdijk, you will continue your route mostly along the Meuse back to Rotterdam.
Day 3: Royal The Hague, beach in Scheveningen, Delft (approx. 66 km)
Today you cycle towards the royal city of The Hague. The Hague, officially ‘s-Gravenhage, is a special city with a rich history and a diverse mix of culture, politics and nature. From The Hague you cycle to the beach at Scheveningen. Here you can enjoy a snack and a drink on the boulevard with a view of the Scheveningen pier. On the way back from Scheveningen to Rotterdam, you will pass the charming town of Delft. Delft is famous for its old city centre, its canals and the famous Delft pottery. You can explore the beautiful city centre, visit the Delft Hofjes and the Nieuwe Kerk. Then continue your journey to your floating hotel in Rotterdam.
Day 4: Rotterdam harbour, market hall, cube houses, Schiedam (approx. 46 km)
Today you cycle in and around the harbour city of Rotterdam. You start the cycle tour at the Erasmus Bridge, from where you have a beautiful view of the city of Rotterdam. You then continue to the market hall with its impressive arch construction and colourful ceiling artwork. Here you will find a variety of market stalls and eateries. Then continue towards the Cube Houses, designed by architect Piet Blom and one of the most famous building complexes in Rotterdam. You then continue towards Schiedam. The town, known for its jenever distilleries, is located just outside Rotterdam. Here you can visit historic windmills, a cosy city centre, the corn exchange and the Grote Kerk. You then cycle towards the Rotterdam harbour area with fascinating insights into shipping and industrial activity.
Day 5: Return trip or extra overnight stay

De Biesbosch National Park and Dordrecht (approx. 69 km)
With another overnight stay in Rotterdam, you have the option of cycling to Dordrecht, a charming historic town with a picturesque centre and an important port. Dordrecht is one of the oldest cities in Holland and was once the most important trading town in the Netherlands. With around 1000 listed buildings, the medieval townscape has been largely preserved over the centuries. You can take a break here before travelling on to the Biesbosch National Park, where you can experience the transition from the urban environment to a beautiful nature reserve. The Biesbosch National Park is an extensive freshwater tidal area with a unique network of streams, islands and forests. It is home to kingfishers, ospreys and sea eagles, which find ideal conditions in the delta of the rivers. If you want to find out more, there are two visitor centres. From the Biesbosch, you return to Rotterdam.
